Free Kundali Calculators

Quick answer

These free kundali calculators work out your birth chart, Moon sign, birth star, dashas, doshas and matching scores from your date, time and place of birth. No account is needed, and the sums run in your browser. Start with the birth chart, or pick the one question you came with below.

Key takeaways

  • Use your place of birth, not where you live now.
  • Without a birth time, we show what can be said and leave out what cannot.
  • Positions are astronomy. What they mean is tradition, not a proven prediction.
  • Where traditions differ, we say which convention we use, in the table below.

Start with your birth chart

Check for a dosha

Each check shows the rule it used and the reasons it found. Traditions differ, and the pages say where.

See your periods

Dates from the Vimshottari dasha system, marked as traditional timing rather than predictions.

Match two charts

The 36-point gun milan and the Tamil 10-porutham, with the exceptions listed.

Name a baby

From the baby's birth date, time and place to a starting sound and a shortlist.

What does each kundali calculator need?

The Moon moves about 13 degrees a day and the lagna goes through all twelve signs in about a day, so how much a birth time matters depends on what you are asking.

Which conventions do these kundali calculators use?

Astronomy gives one answer for where a planet was. Tradition gives several ways to read it. This is what we chose, and what others do instead, so a different result elsewhere does not have to be a mystery.

TopicWhat we useWhere others differ
AyanamshaLahiri (Chitrapaksha)Other schools use Raman or Krishnamurti, which moves every position by a small amount. This is a choice between systems, and changing it can move a planet near a boundary into the next star or sign.
Rahu and KetuMean nodeMany apps use the true node, up to about 2 degrees away. A planet near the Rahu-Ketu line can then land on the other side.
HousesWhole sign, counted from the lagna's signSome software uses unequal houses (Sripati or KP), which can put a planet in the next house.
Time zonesThe historic rules for the birth date and placeOlder local rules before 1970 are merged into each zone's main city. Births in old Bombay Time (to 1955) or Calcutta Time (to 1948) read as IST, a difference of about 39 and 23 minutes, and small towns elsewhere can differ too.
Dasha year365.25 daysSome software uses 365.2425 days, about a day apart over a lifetime, or a 360-day year, which moves dates by years.
ManglikMars in 1, 2, 4, 7, 8 or 12 from the lagna, Moon and Venus. Yes needs lagna and Moon; any other hit reads as partialMany families count only the lagna and Moon, and some leave out house 2. Our Venus-only partial is the widest reading.
Kaal SarpAll seven planets on one side of the Rahu-Ketu line, by exact degree. One outside reads as partialSeveral writers note the idea is absent from the classical texts. Some treat the reverse direction as Kaal Amrita, and some compare by sign.
Pitra doshA broad, indicative check: Rahu, Ketu or Saturn linked to the Sun, the 9th house or its lordNo single classical definition was found. Aspect links appear in most charts, so we show them apart from direct placements.
Gun milan36 points across eight kootas. Exceptions are listed, never applied to the scoreVashya, Yoni and Gana tables have regional variations, so scores can differ by a point or two from other sites.
Varna by signFire Kshatriya, earth Vaishya, air Shudra, water BrahminSome published tables swap earth and air, which changes the Varna point on some pairs.
Graha MaitriNeutral with neutral 3, friend with enemy 1, neutral with enemy 0.5Maitreya software scores these 2, 2 and 1, so a total can differ by a point.
10-poruthamRules follow published South Indian sources where they state oneThere is no single standard. Stree Deergha cut-offs, Vedha pairs, the Rakshasa Gana rule and Rajju all vary, and family astrologers may weigh or count them differently.
Name soundsThe Avakahada table, in Devanagari, with variants shownLists mostly agree but differ at Shravana (Khi or Ju rows), Ardra pada 4 and Uttara Bhadrapada pada 4. Families and priests may use another.

Is your birth data private on these kundali tools?

The free tools calculate in your browser. Your details are not written into the page address and are not sent to us, and a calculator only remembers them on your device if you tick the box. If you copy a link with birth details, we warn you first. Read the privacy policy for how the paid bundle handles them.

Frequently asked questions

Which kundali calculator should I use first?

Start with the free birth chart if you have a date, time and place of birth. It shows your lagna, Moon sign, birth star, planets, Manglik check and current dasha on one page. Then use a focused calculator when you want more detail on one topic, such as the full dasha timeline or every Sade Sati date, without typing your details again.

Can I use these kundali tools without a birth time?

Yes, with limits we state plainly. Anything counted from the lagna, such as houses and the navamsa lagna, needs a time, so we do not show it. For the Moon sign and birth star we show what was possible during the date, with clock times. Many dates have only one Moon sign. Mulank needs only the date.

Are these kundali calculators free and do I need an account?

Every calculator here is free and none needs an account. The sums run in your browser, and your birth details are not sent to our server when you use the free tools. The separate paid PDF bundle is optional, and is the only part of the site that stores birth details, because the reports have to be made and delivered.

Why does my result differ from another kundali website?

Check the birth time and place first, since these cause most differences. After that, sites use different conventions: the ayanamsha, mean or true node, house system, and which matching table they follow. Those are choices between traditions rather than errors. The table on this page lists each convention we use, so you can compare like with like.

Do I use my birthplace or where I live now?

Always the place of birth. The chart records the sky at the moment and place you were born, and that place's clock rules for that date turn your birth time into an exact moment. Where you live today does not change your chart, even if you moved abroad as a child. Current residence only matters for daily panchang times.

Are kundali results scientific predictions?

No. The planetary positions are real astronomy, and we check them against a standard astronomical reference. What those positions mean comes from Jyotish, a cultural and religious tradition, and it is not a scientifically proven way to predict events. Please read results as tradition, and do not base medical, legal or financial decisions on them.
